Haikou’s 2nd Health Knowledge Talk Show Contest Concludes with Awards

Haikou, Hainan, China, September 27, 2025 — Steven Zhao, Canada & World Report —On the morning of September 27, 2025, the Grand Final and Award Ceremony of the 2nd Haikou Health Knowledge Talk Show Competition was held at the Academic Lecture Hall of the Hainan Provincial Cultural Center (Hainan Intangible Cultural Heritage Center). After intense competition, contestant Chen Baihui won the first prize for her solid knowledge of health, humorous delivery, and engaging stage performance. Contestants Deng Yu and Wang Huanhui won the second and third prizes respectively, while Xing Yue and seven other contestants received Excellence Awards.

The event also presented several special awards, including the Best Communication Award and the Active Organization Award. Contestant Yan Qixi’s work “Into the Operating Room” led the online voting during the semifinal stage with an impressive 381,182 votes, earning her the Best Communication Award. Hainan Medical University and Haikou People’s Hospital were honored with the Active Organization Award.

From registration to preliminaries and semifinals, the competition lasted more than two months. Ten contestants advanced to the finals, using witty and engaging talk show performances to spread health knowledge, offering the audience a feast of science, art, and entertainment.

During the grand final, the ten contestants focused on themes such as the 66 Guidelines for Health Literacy, infectious disease prevention and control, healthy lifestyles, maternal and child healthcare, and stories between doctors and patients. The judging system combined evaluations from professional judges and on-site audience voting. Professional judges scored based on expertise, artistic performance, creativity, and relevance to the theme, while the audience voted via QR code scanning. Together, their votes determined the final results.

Since its launch in July, this year’s competition has received 95 entries from within and outside Hainan Province, with online voting in the semifinal stage exceeding 1.6 million votes. The competition has further expanded the influence of health science popularization, showcasing Haikou’s innovative efforts in health education and science communication. It also fostered a strong social atmosphere where “everyone pays attention to health, and everyone promotes health.” Looking ahead, Haikou will continue to explore new formats of health education, integrating health knowledge into the fabric of the city and advancing the construction of a “Healthy Haikou.”

The competition was guided by the Hainan Provincial Health Publicity and Education Center, hosted by the Haikou Municipal Health Commission, organized by the Haikou Health Education Institute, executed by Hainan Daily Co., Ltd., and co-organized by the Hainan Provincial Cultural Center (Hainan Intangible Cultural Heritage Center).
